The Fordson E27N Major Tractor was a minor upgrade of the Fordson N tractor, which itself was very similar to the original Fordson F Tractor. Post-war shortages prevented the development of an entirely new tractor.
It was known simply as the Fordson Major till 1953 when the E1A “New Major” began production. After that, it became common to use the Fordson E27N Major designation.
