Kubota B2920 Problems and Solutions

Engine overheated:

Clean out radiator core and install new radiator cap; check coolant levels; add to correct levels, check for leaks; repair loose fan belt; adjust engine oil level as necessary and add to engine oil storage facility

Engine Knocks:

Low coolant temperature. Warm up the engine. Not enough engine oil is present – add to reach the required level.

The fuel injection pump timing is off, adjust as necessary. Broken or worn pistons need replacing accordingly; as do misaligning or faulty connecting rods which need changing or aligning accordingly.

Loss of engine power:

Faulty fuel injection nozzles require inspection and possible replacement; fuel lines or hoses that have become dirty must also be serviced;

An air filter element was blocked by dirt; it is necessary to replace this filter element; while an existing cylinder head gasket needs replacement as soon as possible.

Engine stalls while idle:

Low idle speed set incorrectly; adjust settings; incorrect valve clearance must be adjusted; fuel injection pump has broken; rebuild or replace pump as soon as possible

HST transmission noises:

Worn or unadjusted speed control linkages. Repair or adjust them; transmission overload requires reduction; contaminated transmission fluid or low fluid level can be added back in to reach its proper levels.

The relief valve is stuck; replace the relief valve and any worn/defective components of the hydrostatic transmission are disassembled and inspected to identify replacements; any found should be immediately addressed by replacing these defective components.

External fluid leaks:

The drain line for oil is blocked. Clean or replace the line. Seals and gaskets are damaged or worn. Replace damaged gaskets or seals.

The pressure inside the housing of the transmission can be too much. Change defective parts.

Hydraulic system overheated:

The type of hydraulic oil used is not correct. A correct oil type must be employed. The hydraulic fluid has been infected.

Replace it with fresh hydraulic fluid. Air is in your hydraulic system. Air bleeding. Main relief valve failure. Repair of valve required.

3-point hitch does not lower or lowers very slowly:

The hydraulic cylinder may be damaged. Repair or replace the hydraulic cylinder. The hydraulic spool valve is not in adjustment.

Adjustment of the spool valve is needed. The hitch cross shaft was damaged. Repair the cross shaft. The three-point hitch isn’t in adjustment. Adjust the 3-point hitch.

Battery does not charge:

The electrical wire connections can be weak or corroded. Tighten or clean electrical wiring connections. The battery clamps are defective.

Terminal clamps need to be replaced. Worn-out battery. A replacement battery is necessary. Loose or defective belt. Replace the belt or adjust the belt tension.
