John Deere B Tractor Price, Specs, Review, Serial Numbers, Horsepower, Weight, Engine Oil Capacity, History & Pictures
The John Deere B tractor model was launched as a smaller tractor, to fill the requirements of row-crop farmers that didn’t require a tractor as large as the John Deere A.
It had a 17-year production run, and the versions of the John Deere B can be broadly classified into three groups.
The original John Deere B Row-Crop tractor is often referred to as “unstyled” and includes all tractors manufactured through 1938.
In 1939, with tractor number 60000, started the “early styled” John Deere B model tractor. In mid-1947, with tractor number 201000, started the “late styled” John Deere B model tractor.
The B was initially manufactured in 1935. It was a general-purpose row-crop tractor that was roughly two-thirds the size of the Model A and cost less.
The rear wheel spacing could be modified to meet row spacings, like with other row-crop tractors, and the front wheels were available with wide and narrow wheel configurations. The B could handle two plows.
The tractor was powered by a 149-cubic-inch (2,440 cc) two-cylinder side-by-side 17-horsepower (13 kW) engine. There were both gasoline and kerosene variants available.
