Excessive Engine Heat
Sometimes, the engine in your John Deere 5400 may get too hot. The reason is that something is wrong with your cooling system.
Never try to open the radiator cover when the engine of your tractor is too hot. If you do this, the antifreeze will get hot and also be under pressure. This will make the cap fly while the steam burns you.
Solutions
If the radiator blades are dirty, you can clean them with compressed air. The radiator can’t lower the temperature of the water as well when the fins are dirty.
But be careful not to twist any blades as you try to clean them. Make sure that there is coolant in the radiator. A heater that is empty can’t do its job.
Minerals in tap water can stop radiators and cause bigger problems, so you shouldn’t fill the radiator with it. It is suggested to mix the right antifreeze with distilled water.
Engine Suddenly Dying
If your car requires diesel fuel, you should only use diesel. If your engine suddenly stops working, it’s possible that anything other than fuel is in the tank.
Diesel and gasoline have distinct combustion processes. Diesel, when subjected to pressure, catches fire, causing the air-fuel mixture in the cylinder to spontaneously combust anytime the cylinder is pushed.
However, gasoline requires a separate ignition source. This is why there are spark plugs in gasoline engines.
Solutions
If the radiator’s blades are dirty, you can blow them clean with compressed air. Filthy radiator fins impair the radiator’s efficiency at lowering the coolant temperature.
When cleaning knives, take care not to twist the blades. Fill the radiator up with the appropriate coolant. The radiator will not heat the room if it is empty.
Minerals in tap water can clog radiators and lead to far bigger problems, so it’s best to avoid using it. The suggested antifreeze combination includes distilled water.
